Thrax Punks and Kadinelia Live at Theatro Gis Thessaloniki
An open-air, homegrown greek indie night.
RDKL presents: THRAX PANKC & special guests KADINELIA! live in Thessaloniki! THRAX PANKC is a band originating from Evros, a prefecture of Thrace. The project started to take shape as early as 2006 with a purely traditional style, while over the years it began to experiment and incorporate modern aesthetics and style from various musical genres around the world, corresponding to the musical preferences of the respective members. With appearances at local events, customs and weddings, to small festivals around Greece, with key members, Vaitis Charakopidis on Gaida-Kaval and Giorgos Stavridis on Daouli-Lyra, until 2010, when they made their first concert appearance at a festival as THRAX PANKC. In 2015, with the arrival of Panos on electric bass-guitar, the band's sound acquired a particularly electric character, with live looping, psychedelic passages, heavy guitars, math outbursts and punk aesthetics. To date, they have participated in the majority of major domestic festivals, as well as concerts abroad, in England, Germany and Cyprus. In 2016 they released their first EP entitled PANKOPANIGYROPSYCHEDELEIA, while in 2019 they presented their first full-length record (LP) Thrax Punks with Markos Koutsianas undertaking the sound editing, following them until today in their course, with sold out appearances throughout Greece. In the spring of 2021 they composed original music for the ancient tragedy "Bacchae" directed by Nikaeta Kontouri, which toured in the summer of the same year throughout Greece and Cyprus. The band accompanied the performance live at Epidaurus, the Herodion and Cyprus at the municipal theater of Nicosia. In the summer of 2024 they release their second album "Thrax Punks 2" and a series of concerts in Greece and Europe followed while at the same time they are working on new material for their next work. Kadinelia are coming to the Garden Theater and bringing to the stage the most explosive mix of progressive folk. With two handmade acoustic guitars, torrential rhythmic patterns and exotic vocals, Thanasis Zikas and Evi Seitanidou form one of the most characteristic sounds of the contemporary Greek scene with compositions that marry blues with Kalamatiano, reggae with Zonaradis, Nina Simone with Tsampouna. This year they are celebrating ten years of artistic career with their second LP on the verge, and they bring with them new compositions and even more daring sound explorations. This time they take the stage as a trio, with the addition of percussion, giving another dimension to their sound field.
