A nostalgic classical night.
The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, one of England's most renowned chamber ensembles, presents a program dedicated to string music. Founded by Neville Marriner, the group returns to its roots with a performance featuring Puccini's haunting single-movement work Crisantemi. The evening continues with Paganini's Violin Concerto no. 4, a piece that was resurrected in 1954 by Arthur Grumiaux. Closing the concert is Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence, a sextet composed in Italy that combines Mediterranean light with formidable technical demands for the performers.
