Under the direction of Simon Halsey, Come and Sing invites amateur singers from all backgrounds to a day of transmission and exchange, a festive prelude to a concert shared with the public. Few works are as popular and immediately charismatic as Carl Orff's famous Carmina Burana, which the composer assembled after his discovery in 1935 of authentic medieval poems. The unprecedented mixture of sacred and profane, melodic seduction and epic grandeur, bursts forth in an irresistible secular cantata. Orff's art remains a unifying tribute to the magical charm of music, particularly perceptible in this version for small ensemble, which the public can discover through this participatory concert.
