Black Uhuru
The legendary Black Uhuru is one of the most influential reggae groups ever, winning the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Reggae album. Led by founder Derrick “Duckie” Simpson, the band has remained true to its original vision for over 50 years. Originating from Kingston’s Waterhouse District in the late 1960s, they developed a distinctive sound characterized by heavy bass, sharp drum patterns, and rhythmic keyboards, complemented by long instrumental passages and unique background vocals.
