Esperanza Spalding is a Grammy award winning American jazz bassist, cellist and singer, who draws upon many genres in her own compositions. Her music is influenced by Brazilian sounds and fusion, incorporating modern sounds into jazz. She is a former instructor at Berklee College of Music and has released critically acclaimed albums like Chamber Music Society and Radio Music Society, both of which topped the US Jazz charts.
