Pianist Shane van Neerden performs the premiere of 'Tranendeken' (also titled 'Bon dia') by composer Celia Swart. This new composition for solo piano, voice, and various experimental materials like e-bows, fishing lines, and foil was written specifically for Amsterdam's Westerpark. The piece explores the transition from a busy urban environment to the peaceful atmosphere of a park setting. During the performance, Van Neerden adjusts the piano with physical preparations to shift the music from stillness to movement. Composer Celia Swart has previously written for the Bang on a Can festival, while pianist Shane van Neerden was the winner of the 2024 Dutch Classical Talent Award.
