A nostalgic, slow-burn classical night.
Following the pattern set by Lionel Tertis in the last century, Timothy Ridout continues to enhance the viola repertoire with new works, idiomatic arrangements, and gleaming rediscoveries. His recital contains fine examples drawn from all three categories, beginning with Nahre Sol’s Shadow Walkers, which he first performed with Jonathan Ware in 2025, and sonorous transcriptions of songs by Gabriel Fauré. Enescu’s lyrical Concertstück, commissioned by Fauré in 1906, and Léon Honnoré’s Morceau de concert, another Belle Époque gem, pave the way to the viola version of Franck’s evergreen Violin Sonata.
