A nostalgic classical night.
The Vienna Philharmonic and conductor Lorenzo Viotti present a programme exploring their musical heritage through the works of Richard Strauss and Erich Wolfgang Korngold. The evening features Strauss' Suite from Der Rosenkavalier, showcasing the famous Viennese string sound, followed by Korngold’s Sinfonietta. Composed when he was just 15 years old, this rare work was originally premiered by the Vienna Philharmonic under Felix Weingartner. Viotti, who recently demonstrated his affinity for this repertoire in Zurich, leads the orchestra in a performance highlighting the technical mastery and chromatic density of these early 20th-century Austro-German masterpieces.
