If yes, then PLEX OPEN PILOT 1 is where you need to be. About PLEX PLEX is not just another cultural venue. It is a long-term experiment in what culture can mean for Athens today. Based in the historic weaving factory at Kerameikou 28, in the heart of a neighborhood defined by contradictions, abandoned neoclassical buildings beside new creative spaces, brothels next to artist studios, migrant families and precarious housing alongside bold cultural initiatives, PLEX aspires to become a living structure for art, community, and urban transformation. Kerameikos is raw, fragile, and full of potential. It is one of the few places where artists, residents, and newcomers still meet in the city center. But it is also a neighborhood under threat, facing rising rents, speculation, and displacement. The question is: will it fall to uncontrolled gentrification, or can it become a model of inclusive, community-led regeneration? PLEX is the collective attempt to answer this question. About the day PLEX OPEN PILOT 1 is our very first step. A day of talks, screenings, debates, and music, opening the building to the city and inviting everyone to take part. The program brings together voices from Athens and abroad: from Marseille’s community gardens to Milan’s architecture schools, from cultural theorists of the digital age to local experiments in collective living. It will be an evening of conversations about the future of culture, but also of celebration, encounters, and dancing into the night.
