John Kameel Farah: Music for Piano & Synthesizers

John Kameel Farah combineert piano met synthesizers en elektronica tot een uniek geluid dat hij “Baroque-Middle-Eastern-Cyberpunk” noemt. Zijn concerten zijn avontuurlijke muzikale reizen vol improvisatie, ritmes en soundscapes, waarin eeuwenoude motieven samenkomen met futuristische klanken. Geïnspireerd door culturele herinnering, vrijheid en mythen uit het Midden-Oosten, creëert hij betoverende muzikale landschappen. Farah, een muzikant met Palestijnse en Canadese roots, studeerde aan de University of Toronto, won tweemaal de Glenn Gould Composition Award, en speelde o.a. met Tangerine Dream en in de Berliner Philharmonie. Hij werkt nu aan een pianoconcert voor het National Arts Centre Orchestra (2025). John Kameel Farah blends piano, synthesizers and electronics into a singular style he calls “Baroque-Middle-Eastern-Cyberpunk.” His concerts are sonic journeys of improvisation, driving rhythms and rich soundscapes, merging ancient motifs with futuristic textures. Drawing on themes of memory, freedom and Middle-Eastern mythology, he creates mesmerizing musical worlds. Farah studied at the University of Toronto, won the Glenn Gould Composition Award twice, performed with Tangerine Dream and at the Berlin Philharmonic. He’s currently composing a piano concerto for the National Arts Centre Orchestra (2025).
