Nepantla Frequencies is a collective of four independent artists: Guelay, EvaneH, Chandramathi, and Raya Noire. The project takes its name from the Nahuatl term for in-betweenness, exploring themes of immigration, displacement, and diasporic identity. The collective draws from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Caribbean, African, and SWAN heritages. Their sound is a blend of ambient, experimental, folk, witchhouse, and art pop. Performances feature live instrumentation including cello, synths, and guitar, combined with electronic elements to create mystical rhythms and ethereal vocals.
