Ella Mai was niet onbekend voordat ze bij Mustard’s label tekende, maar nadat de inkt droog was, bereikte de r&b singer-songwriter echt internationale bekendheid met de hit ‘Boo’d Up’ uit 2018, een slow jam waarin haar nonchalante, indrukwekkende stem goed tot zijn recht komt. Het nummer, dat een Grammy won, stuwde het debuutalbum ‘Ella Mai’ naar de top van de hitlijsten in de VS en het geboorteland van de artieste, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, en werd uiteindelijk vergezeld door drie extra gouden, zilveren en platina singles. Dit success werd opgevolgd met het project ‘Heart On My Sleeve’ uit 2022. Dit jaar heeft de singer-songwriter weer van zich laten horen met haar meest recente single ‘Tell Her’.
