De Sardijnse trompettist Paolo Fresu behoort al decennialang tot de absolute top van de Europese jazz. Met zijn lyrische, aan Miles Davis refererende klank en zijn vermogen om traditie en vernieuwing moeiteloos te verbinden, groeide hij uit tot een internationaal icoon. Zijn muziek weerspiegelt zowel het ruige landschap van zijn geboortestreek als de verfijning van Parijs en de energie van de moderne jazzscene – een natuurlijke match met het Paradox Jazz Orchestra. Met meer dan 350 opnames en talloze internationale samenwerkingen blijft Fresu zichzelf steeds opnieuw uitvinden, van intieme duo’s tot grootse orkestprojecten. Ook zoekt hij geregeld kruisbestuiving met theater, dans, beeldende kunst en film. Voor het eerst in zijn carrière plaatst Fresu het werk van Miles Davis centraal in een bigbandsetting.
