In de muziektheatervoorstelling Passion of Mary Magdalene geeft de Britse componiste Tansy Davies het woord aan Maria Magdalena als hoofdpersoon. Het werk verkent thema's als verlies, transformatie en wedergeboorte, waarbij het christelijke verhaal wordt verweven met Egyptische opstandingsmythes rond Isis en Osiris. De voorstelling maakt gebruik van de poëzie van Ruth Fainlight en bevat vitale, fysieke muziek. De compositie mengt elementen uit de klassieke avant-garde met funk en experimentele rock, gekenmerkt door een energieke, ritmische collage-aanpak en rijke orkestratie.
