An underground, gritty dance night.
How Dogs Play explores the complex presence of aggression within intimacy — a crude slip between the human and the monstrous, child’s play and menacing acts. Three performers, Amelia Heintzelman, Brendan Elefante, and Jack Dexter collide, spin, fall, and intertwine in an athletic maze. Sounds are amplified and live processed, exaggerating the tussles of everyday life, tendered in a soundscape by Tommy Martinez. Amelia Heintzelman is a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. Her work has been supported by various residencies and commissions, and she has collaborated with several other performers. She also teaches at Movement Research and Pageant.
