An underground, gritty avant-garde night.
A meeting of three outstanding improvisational musicians who understand sound as an open territory. Guitar legend Fred Frith, co-founder of Henry Cow, joins comrade Tim Hodgkinson and Berlin-based trumpeter Liz Allbee for a fully improvised trialogue. The performance represents a high-level intersection of veteran avant-garde and experimental improvisation, ranging from prepared guitar and intense reed work to material experimentation with electronics and breath. Opening the night is Lukraak, an Amsterdam-based duo playing post-silly music of crooked beauty using saxophone, drums, and found objects to create intricate sonic mosaics.
