De Engelsman Matt Schofield is misschien wel de beste Europese bluesgitarist van dit moment. Zijn naam prijkt in the British Blues Hall of Fame maar zijn faam reikt tot ver buiten Engeland. Met zijn King-achtige (zowel B.B., Freddie als Albert) frasering bereikt hij vooral in zijn langzamere nummers ongekende hoogten. Maar ook met funky rocktracks weet Schofield raad: luister maar naar zijn alles versplinterende solo in Black Cat Bone, van het livealbum Live From The Archive (2007). Begin 2025 verscheen Schofields nieuwe album Many Moons Volume 1, opgenomen met de originele leden van zijn trio: Jonny Henderson (hammondorgel) en Evan Jenkins (drums). Live-blues is de beste blues!
