Chuck Prophet & his Cumbia Shoes

Chuck Prophet toert al veertig jaar door Europa met zijn unieke mix van alt-country, folk, blues en powerpop. Zijn laatste tournee trok overal volle zalen. Nu keert hij terug naar LantarenVenster met een gloednieuw project: Chuck Prophet & his Cumbia Shoes. Het nieuwe album Wake The Dead is ontstaan in samenwerking met de Cumbia-groep ¿Qiensave?. De sound van Prophet en ¿Qiensave? vloeien naadloos in elkaar over en samen duiken ze diep in de wereld van Zuid-Amerikaanse cumbia. Prophet over Wake The Dead: “When I was growing up listening to The Clash and their flirtations with reggae, the thing I remember most is how the music hit me, how it made me feel. The more you listened, the more was revealed, but on the most fundamental level, those records just felt good, and that was really important to me with this album.” Over Chuck Prophet Chuck Prophet begon zijn carrière in de jaren tachtig bij de psychedelische rootsband Green on Red. Sindsdien jaagt de Californische songwriter rusteloos de verloren geest van rock-’n-roll na. Door de jaren heen ontwikkelde hij een onmiskenbaar West Coast-rockgeluid, met gortdroge, geestige songs over de schaduwzijde van de American Dream.
