BvR Flamenco Bigband Live at BIMHUIS Amsterdam
A raw jazz night.
Kleurrijke bigband versmelt al meer dan tien jaar flamenco en jazz. Al meer dan tien jaar leidt de Spaans-Nederlandse saxofonist Bernard van Rossum zijn BvR Flamenco Bigband: een extra grote bigband die de grenzen van flamenco en jazz herdefinieert. In zijn composities werpt Van Rossum nieuw licht op flamencoritmes en -harmonieën door middel van kleurrijke orkestraties en het grote dynamische bereik van de bigband. Het leverde hem onder andere de prestigieuze Rogier van Otterloo Award op. Eerder deelde het ensemble het podium met flamencogrootheden als Antonio Serrano, Carles Benavent en Rafael de Utrera. Vanavond wordt de bigband versterkt door zangeres Erminia Fernández Córdoba, flamencogitarist Arturo Ramón en percussionist Claudio Spieler. ‘I heard some new territory that night.
