Tuvinian throat and overtone singing is one of the most fascinating vocal techniques in the world, and HUUN-HUUR-TU have mastered the various styles. Their music has a ritualistic character, balancing meditative tendencies with a strong rhythmic orientation. This mysterious overtone singing allows up to three melodies to be heard simultaneously. Historically performed by soloists, HUUN-HUUR-TU's eclectic group performances of old songs and melodies, accompanied by instruments, span all elements of Tuvinian musical life—fascinatingly foreign yet contemporary and modern.
