Fantastic Twins Live at Control Club Bucharest
On Friday, May 15, the Berlin Room opens its doors to a night of immersive, mind-expanding electronics, the kind that rewards the willingness to go wherever the sound leads. Fantastic Twins is the ongoing project of Julienne Dessagne, a producer, songwriter and live performer who has spent over a decade building a world entirely her own. Releasing on Optimo Music, Hippie Dance and Kompakt, and founding her own imprint House of Slessor in 2023, Dessagne operates with rare creative autonomy. Her 2023 album Two Is Not A Number drew praise across DJ Mag, Electronic Sound and Harper's Bazaar, with the former naming it one of their LPs of the year. On stage, she navigates a hybrid live setup of synthesisers, samplers, sequencers and modular effects, weaving her own vocals into sets that pull from the lineages of Kosmische, pure techno and contemporary psychedelia. She has played Berghain, fabric and Robert Johnson, toured with Bicep, and earned the trust of Andrew Weatherall. Her music has soundtracked Dior's SS24 catwalk. She counts Coil, Cosey Fanni Tutti and Nina Simone among her touchstones. Each of her performances tells a different story, building and breaking club narratives with something close to grace.
