A queer alternative hip hop night.
On Café Paradiso, Mykki Blanco is completely reborn, trading the persona-driven theatrics of previous releases for something more introspective and exacting. The record draws from fragments of the artist’s life in transit—from dive bars in New York's East Village to tea houses in Tangier. The album assembles a soundtrack for the contemporary queer flâneur, moving through spaces where being alone is a form of participation. After spending two years at art school in Switzerland to deepen their practice as a visual artist, Blanco returned to songwriting. The resulting music, created in partnership with producer FaltyDL, resists easy categorization and operates as a sonic memoir of an urbane artist. Cafe Paradiso is described as a festival album that captures the quiet intensity of being alone in public and the freedom that elevates soul into higher art.
