Harding Leads Strauss
British conductor Daniel Harding leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a program of Strauss and Adès. The concert features Richard Strauss’ Second Horn Concerto, a showcase for LA Phil Principal Andrew Bain that explores the instrument’s Mozartian elegance and rustic hunting fanfares. The program also includes Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra, famously used in 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Thomas Adès’ Exterminating Angel Symphony, a symphonic distillation of his surrealist opera.
