Nadine Benjamin MBE returns to SongEasel to conclude the 2026 summer series with a jubilant programme paying homage to the 250th anniversary of American independence. The performance features a selection of Spirituals and classics by Cole Porter and George Gershwin, paired with songs by African-American composers. The programme also includes André Previn’s Honey & Rue, a song cycle set to the words of Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison, exploring a specifically black, urban, female landscape of experience.
