A raw chamber music night.
Artist in Residence Lawrence Power is joined by illustrious string-player friends and the vocal ensemble EXAUDI for the premiere of a visionary new work by Cassandra Miller. Canadian composer Cassandra Miller is known for creating profoundly emotional work by processing existing music in magical ways. The concert features the results of this alchemy in The Years, co-commissioned by the Barbican, where she channels a meditation on mortality through the voices of EXAUDI and a super-group string trio. The first half of the program sees the trio navigate an intricate tapestry of musical history, concluding with Beethoven’s turbulent String Trio Op. 9 No. 3.
