The Bad Plus, Chris Potter & Craig Taborn Live at BIMHUIS Amsterdam
A raw contemporary post-bop night.
Craig Taborn, Chris Potter and The Bad Plus: big names who have each made their mark on contemporary jazz. They share a passion for the folk-inspired melodies and idiosyncratic grooves of Keith Jarrett’s American Quartet, active in the mid-seventies. Now, these four contemporaries are taking a fresh look at the oeuvre that moulded their musical paths. Pianist Keith Jarrett shot to global stardom with his imaginative solo improvisations, immortalized on the highly successful album _The Köln Concert_. Around that time, he released a series of influential albums with his quartet featuring Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian. Today, a new generation of jazz titans – piano adventurer Craig Taborn, tenor sax virtuoso Chris Potter, and The Bad Plus’s versatile rhythm section – breathe new life into their work. Chris Potter tenor sax, Craig Taborn piano, Reid Anderson bass, Dave King drums
