A nostalgic, underground jazz night.
Kickoff of the concert and discussion series “Hot and Free: Jazz in Divided Berlin, 1950–1970”. This opening event focuses on the sizzling sounds of the postwar years, exploring how Hot Jazz, Swing, and Dixieland shaped musical life in both West Germany and the GDR after 1945. The Hot Club of Berlin, an international quintet and one of the leading ensembles of jazz manouche, brings this fascinating era to life. Inspired by the Quintette du Hot Club de France, they perform virtuosic and danceable sets that trace the history of jazz on both sides of the Berlin Wall.
