De zon schijnt in het eerste concert van het Ragged Music Festival in muziek voor één en twee piano’s, bespeeld door de twee, vier of zes handen van drie pianisten. Festivalprogrammeurs Pavel Kolesnikov en Samson Tsoy spelen samen met Elisabeth Leonskaja, de grande dame van de grote Russische pianotraditie. Voor zes handen klinkt de lyrische _Romance_ van Sergej Rachmaninov én Alfred Schnittkes vrolijk ironische hommage aan Stravinsky, Prokofiev en Sjostakovitsj. Solo speelt Leonskaja een poëtische sonate uit Beethovens laatste jaren waarin mildheid en lyrische diepgang samengaan. Samson Tsoy en Pavel Kolesnikov besluiten de avond met Stravinksy’s _Sacre_. Deze ruige viering van de lente wond het premièrepubliek in 1913 dusdanig op dat er in het Parijse Théâtre des Champs-Élysées vechtpartijen tussen voor- en tegenstanders van het stuk uitbraken.
