Romantso Club Night: Ell Murphy (UK)

Romantso presents Ell Murphy, a South East London singer, DJ and producer, who’s been making waves in the UK dance scene with her high-energy DJ sets and live vocal performances. Known for her distinctive hybrid sets, she often sings live behind the decks, blending vocal-driven House & Garage with a powerful on-stage presence. Joining her in the booth are three local staples of the UK Garage, House and electro scene, Miss Trouli, Saber Rider and VYSSKA, all prolifically active musicians and producers in Athens’ electronic music and club scene. ******************************************************************* Ell Murphy Over the past three years, she’s carved out her own lane, performing at landmark venues and festivals including Glastonbury, SXSW London, Boomtown, Fabric and Field Day, while supporting artists such as Ewan McVicar, Sammy Virji, Arielle Free, DJ EZ, Interplanetary Criminal, Annie Mac, and Antony Szmierek. Ell’s selections have featured on respected platforms like RINSE FM, Balamii, Foundation FM and NTS Radio, and her music has earned widespread support across BBC Radio 1, BBC6 Music and Capital FM Dance. As a vocalist, she’s worked with some of the most exciting names in UK dance including TSHA, Giulia Tess, Mafro, YUQT, and Gemi, with releases on Ninja Tune, Locked On, Shall Not Fade, Dansu Discs, and Greco Roman. There’s something downright devious about pairing up punchy kicks, a grinding piano melody and addictively catchy lyrics; so Ell Murphy, we need to have a word. The London-based artist has enlisted the help of Medlar to create a rolling backing track that pulls in references from speed garage and all-out organ house euphoria - though to be completely honest, we’ve been unable to get Murphy's silky vocal declaring “I need it I need it” over and over again out of our heads since our first listen. – Mixmag
