An underground classical night.
Yellow Barn’s Showcase continues with a compelling double bill featuring the works of Ligeti and Messiaen. The programme begins with Ligeti’s 3 Pieces for 2 pianos, a 1978 composition known for the powerful chords of ‘Monument’ and the rhythmic energy of its self-portrait movement. The performance concludes with Messiaen’s profound eight-movement Quatuor pour la fin du temps, famously composed and premiered in 1940 while the composer was held as a prisoner-of-war.
