A nostalgic, underground choral night.
Ed Lyon’s wide repertoire spans everything from Dowland lute songs and Monteverdi’s Orfeo to the music of Britten and James MacMillan. The tenor’s catholic musical tastes, generous spirit and seductive voice are sure to be on display in this rich mix of works by British composers, the second half of which evokes the glamorous nights of London’s theatreland in the 1920s and 1930s. The programme features works by Roger Quilter, Muriel Herbert, Gerald Finzi, Frank Bridge, and Benjamin Britten, alongside arrangements of Ivor Novello and Noël Coward classics.
