Legacy of the future
Over the Netherlands Chamber Choir’s almost 90 years of existence, numerous compositions by major contemporary composers have been written specifically for the choir. These works are assured a place in the future of choral repertoire. This evening, the Netherlands Chamber Choir will sing a selection from this unique collection. A diverse evening that offers something for every taste. The Netherlands Chamber Choir was founded in 1937 by Felix de Nobel. De Nobel was an influential figure in the world of classical music, both as a pianist and as a conductor. World-renowned composers such as Francis Poulenc and Frank Martin wrote music for the choir at his invitation. In recent decades, the long and impressive list has been supplemented with commissioned works by David Lang, Michel van der Aa and Kate Moore, to name just a few.
