Akis Panou Musical Tribute at Odeon of Herodes Atticus Athens
An open-air laiko night.
For the first time, a great musical tribute to Akis Panou is presented, one of the most authentic and defining figures of Greek folk song. Akis Panou, with his songs - a compass for entire generations of creators and listeners - left an indelible mark on the history of our folk culture. Great performers and musicians will pay tribute to the man who charted his own unique course with his music and words: Manolis Mitsias, who was one of the authentic performers of his work, Sokratis Malamas, Ioulia Karapataki and Aspasia Stratigou unite their voices in songs that marked the Greek music: «I zoi mou oli», «I pio megali ora», «To tholomeno mou myalo», «Den thelo ti symponia kanenos», and many others. The orchestration of the concert is signed by the distinguished maestro Achilleas Gouastos, accompanied by an orchestra consisting of top musicians of the scene. The presentation of the evening is undertaken by the excellent actor Christos Stergioglou, while the texts are signed by Taxiarchis Deligiannis & Vasilis Tsiouvaras. Akis Panou was not simply a great creator; he was the one who managed, through his music and lyrics, to penetrate the most internal human feelings and, at the same time, to express the common feeling of an entire era. His work is not just an artistic legacy, but a living guide in our daily life and memories.
