A nostalgic, underground baroque night.
Trumpeters Gerardo Gianolio and Amir Rabinovitz perform a duo program for two trumpets as part of the Grachtenfestival. The program spans from the Baroque era to the nineteenth century, alternating between festive fanfares and lyrical chamber music with works by Handel, Purcell, and Telemann alongside virtuoso duets by Arban and Voxman. A unique feature of this concert is the musicians' use of both natural trumpets and modern trumpets. The natural trumpet, which lacks keys, offers a warmer and fuller sound characteristic of the Baroque sound world. By switching between instruments, the performers provide a direct impression of the changing timbres across different musical eras.
