Acclaimed clarinettist, saxophonist, composer and producer Giacomo Smith brings his new quartet to Upstairs at Ronnie's for the London launch of Artfullee. This striking new album of original music marks his first foray into the straight-ahead jazz quartet format. Best known as the founder of Kansas Smitty's, Smith has built an international reputation for reimagining jazz traditions through a contemporary lens. The music was developed organically, with six original compositions taught to the band entirely by ear to prioritize mood, interaction, and spontaneity. The quartet features a shared musical language developed through close collaboration between Smith and his ensemble. Born in Italy and raised in the United States, Smith has performed with Wynton Marsalis and Jamie Cullum, and is a respected educator at the Royal Academy of Music.
