Summer dance night with colourful British and Dutch collectives. It’s starting to become a tradition; the DATSKAT WEEKEND in March. We take out the chairs, transform our venue into a nightclub (with epic views over the city) and present the best jazz, hip-hop, afrobeat and neo-soul from home and abroad. Featuring on Friday 21 March the Moses Yoofee Trio and TOS and on Saturday Nubiyan Twist and PARRA.DICE. British Nubiyan Twist is a nine-piece powerhouse that has been making waves for nearly a decade. Now it has its fourth album, ‘Find Your Flame’, on which the ensemble once again succeeds like no other in combining soul, jazz, Latin, dance and hip-hop. With a large dose of improvisation, a booming horn section and even a guest appearance by legend Nile Rodgers. And if that is not enough, the band has been joined live by vocalist Aziza Jaye. Standing still is impossible. And that is just as well, because Dutch PARRA.DICE also has an infectious energy that is impossible to ignore. With the unusual lineup of three horns, a violin and an extensive rhythm section, they know how to create a groovy whole with narrative melodies and percussive rhythms.
