Dvořák’s “New World” - Los Angeles Philharmonic
Los Angeles Opera’s new Music Director, Domingo Hindoyan, leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Dvořák’s beloved Symphony No. 9. The "New World" Symphony captures the spiritual and folk-inspired melodies of an American landscape through immigrant eyes. The performance features the world premiere of Miguel Farías’ Mistralianas, performed by soprano Sonya Yoncheva, paying tribute to Nobel laureate Gabriela Mistral. The evening opens with Samuel Barber's intense and emotional Medea's Dance of Vengeance, a psychological exploration of rage and passion.
