Yamanaka is a regular at prestigious clubs such as Smalls and Mezzrow, and she hosted the popular 'Miki’s Mood' livestream series during the pandemic. In addition to her work as a bandleader, she is a sought-after sideman and has performed with jazz luminaries like Antonio Hart and the Mingus Big Band. Her performances often highlight her heritage, featuring her collection of traditional kimonos.
