A nostalgic, underground jazz night.
Trio Da Kali brings the deep musical traditions of southern Mali to Grounds in Rotterdam. The group hails from the Mande culture and is rooted in a long lineage of griots, hereditary musicians whose role encompasses storytelling and memory. Performing with vocals, ngoni, and balafon, the trio creates an intimate and resonant sound that remains grounded in tradition while embracing new directions. Their debut album, Bagola, incorporates elements of jazz, Afro-Mexican music, and classical composition while maintaining the core of Malian musical heritage. Their live performance at Grounds promises a warm and atmospheric experience where traditional roots and contemporary imagination meet.
