An underground contemporary classical night.
Percussionist Colin Currie leads his quartet in a programme celebrating the 90th birthday of Steve Reich alongside works by a younger generation of composers. The evening features the energetic Pillar III by Andy Ahiko and the joyful Daily Affirmation by Ben Nobuto. Following a world premiere by American composer Robert Honstein and Camille Pépin's flowing work for vibraphones and marimbas, the concert concludes with the intense physicality of Reich's Drumming Part 1, performed on four drum kits.
