Mercy John Live at Pop & Cultuurpodium CAPSLOC Rotterdam

Mercy John is embarking on an exciting new path, after years of making a name for himself in the Americana scene. He and his band are coming up with an energetic mix of pop, rock and indie that is made for the pop stages and festival fields. Think powerful choruses, rousing rhythms and an infectious energy. With an occasional sparkle of Springsteen and an 80's synthesizer. The new album, produced by Peter Slager (Bløf), mixed by Huub Reijnders (o.a. Di-rect, Rondé) takes Mercy John's music to a new creative level. The songs on the album are a direct link to the contradiction in Mercy John's life: extroverted on stage, introverted and modest in daily life. Colorful songs with an undertone of despair and black and white thinking. The contrast is sometimes great, as can be seen from the life of the man behind Mercy John: John Verhoeven. Born in the Brabant countryside with a 'just act normal' mentality, but eventually co-writer of the mega-hit 'Roller Coaster' by Danny Vera. The new sound on the new album comes to life thanks to the 6-piece Mercy John band consisting of Rolf Verbaant (guitar), Kirsten Boersma (keys), Tom Zwaans (bass), Lynyrd Denissen (drums) and Aike van de Crommert (synths). They give the songs a layered polyphony, power where necessary, but also depth and tension. From August 2025, the first new singles will be launched with which Mercy John will put himself back on the map. The album will follow at the end of October, which is explosive, fresh and ideal to experience live. That's a good thing, because from January 2026 Mercy John will be touring with his band in clubs throughout the Netherlands.
