A raw classical night.
Wigmore Hall celebrates Trevor Pinnock’s 80th birthday in company with the period-instrument ensemble he founded in 1972 and served as artistic director for the next 30 years. The program features works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, including Cello Concerto in A minor and the festive Third Orchestral Suite. Pinnock’s contribution to the Early Music Revival was instrumental in shifting historically informed performance into the mainstream of concert life. This evening of musical delights honors one of Britain’s finest musicians, featuring soloists and the trumpets and drums of the Bach suites.
