An underground, homegrown free jazz night.
New York-based guitarist Miles Okazaki presents a performance followed by a jam session. Known for his contemporary approach to the guitar, Okazaki's work spans three decades of jazz and avant-garde exploration. He has collaborated with major artists including John Zorn and Steve Coleman, and gained acclaim for his comprehensive recording of Thelonious Monk's solo guitar compositions. In addition to his prolific recording career on Sunnyside and Pi labels, he is a respected educator at Princeton University and author of the book Fundamentals of Guitar. The evening features a set at 10:30 PM followed by a session until 2:00 AM.
