Robert Archibald Shaw (9 August 1927 – 28 August 1978) was an English stage and film actor and novelist, remembered for his performances in The Sting, From Russia with Love, A Man for All Seasons, the original The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), Black Sunday (1977), The Deep (1977) and Jaws, where he played the shark hunter Quint.
He was an English actor and novelist known for his commanding screen presence and intense performances in cinema during the 1960s and 1970s.
He is widely recognized for his roles as the shark hunter Quint in Jaws, the hitman Red Grant in From Russia with Love, and the con man Doyle Lonnegan in The Sting.
In addition to his acting career, he was a prolific writer who authored several novels and plays.
