I can appreciate making a movie like this where the idea is to be such a viscerally nihilistic reaction to the pandemic and society’s response to it, but this is worthless edgelord fake-provocative garbage. I’m down with splatter movies and even sexual provocation intertwined with violence (I love HELLRAISER!) but this is the product of someone just seeing how “fucked up” and “depraved” they can get with nothing to actually say about any of it. I left the Q&A after the director started talking about how he wasn’t interested in the politics of the film and was more focused on the “fun and the gore”, a funny thing to say for a movie with so much grotesque sexual violence. Worst I’ve seen at Fantastic Fest.
