Is it a sin to say I still prefer Burton’s version…Albeit I have yet to watch the tv series this was still an awful lot of fun and easily accessible to those not familiar with the source material. Perfectly atmospheric for Halloween watch.

When it started, I was worried that not having ever seen the Dark Shadows series would be a problem. Like who in the hell were all these random characters and why are they wondering around looking for David? But it turned out not to be a problem. Which I’m glad of, as this was bargain-basement Hammer meets daytime soap fun. All camp vampire drama, theremin sounds, big hair, cobweb house and sudden turns to camera. Yeah, the pacing is a bit uneven, but there’s enough biting, swooning and staking to keep it all goofily charming. It is a horrifying experience to fall into madness when you could have jumped into a dumpster fire aka Seasonal Trash Fall 2025 2. Watch a movie that is based on a television show. It doesn't have to be officially endorsed.
A good 80% of this movie is people saying "David".
