Amazing work with archives, editing and sound design.Knowing that the work on the film took 7 years and that Lebanon doesn’t have an archive made me appreciate the film even more!I was so surprised how uplifting the film felt in the end, considering the heavy history (no politicians were shown in the film, which is incredible!) and the documentary style of the work! And the music! So many great songs, please check out the playlist!Definitely among the best works I’ve watched at the festival.

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to rate this film. I feel like this is supposed to be watched as a retrospective, a look back at a past Lebanon and a plea for the future. But it’s a little hard to do that with an israeli drone buzzing above the theater and the south of Lebanon getting actively bombed. That's the thing; this is still our life. Just as miserable as it always was. Just how it's depicted in this film. The film addresses the 2024 war on Lebanon, though. Did Lana Daher know her film would be released at a time like this? Things I liked:- The music was perfectly picked and nostalgic- Recognizing the films from the various bits and pieces cut and pasted into here- The ambition of this project. It’s remarkable that this exists- A look into a Beirut I've never seen before, or haven't seen enough ofThings I didn't like:- Too much French - I feel like it was made for the diaspora audience but maybe that's just me- The usual cheesy Lebanon / Civil War themes are present Also I think it should be clear: this film is more about Beirut than about *Lebanon* as a whole. I love Beirut, so I don't mind that, but still. Lol. All in all, the emotional beats hit (and probably would more if you were actually alive during the civil war). Take your mom to see it? Maybe?
