Los Angeles Philharmonic and Esa-Pekka Salonen: Rituals - The Rite of Spring

As part of the LA Phil Rituals festival, curated by Creative Director Esa-Pekka Salonen, this program explores one of music’s most iconic ritualistic expressions: Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Orchestrating a dream of pagan ritual with ferocious harmonies and pounding rhythms, Stravinsky helped usher in the Modern era of music. The program also features Prokofiev’s First Violin Concerto performed by three-time Grammy winner Hilary Hahn. The concerto serves as a compelling vehicle for her technical and musical talents, shaped by a lush tone and affectionate phrasing.
