Caligaripl. 1, 13086 Berlin-Bezirk Pankow
The fourth evening of the concert series "Hot and Free? Jazz in Divided Berlin, 1950–1970" is dedicated to Ulrich Gumpert, a central figure of GDR jazz. Since the 1960s, Gumpert has been one of Germany's most influential pianists and composers, playing in legendary groups such as SOK, Synopsis, and the Zentralquartett. In this performance, Gumpert appears at the Hammond B-3 organ alongside a quartet featuring Silke Eberhard, Jan Roder, and Kay Lübke. The program explores a spectrum ranging from the roots of jazz and rock influences to the avant-garde, highlighting the diversity and innovation of contemporary jazz.
