The Cello Yurt on the terrace of the Muziekgebouw has become a fixture of the festival program since 2022. Various festival cellists present a 45-minute solo program in this intimate setting. The unique aspect of these sessions is the element of surprise: visitors purchase a ticket without knowing which artist or repertoire they will hear. The performances can range from modern pieces to early music, or from jazz and pop to works by Britten and Kodály. The only rule is that Bach's cello suites are reserved for the Bach & Breakfast sessions.
